Title: Feature List
Post by: James on February 21, 2007, 12:43:08 am
I use Win32Pad on all of my systems, but mostly on my mobile data terminal to keep an event log as I patrol.  I usually have several files open at a time (three or four for data, and the log itself), however, setting up the screen layout on each shift is a task.

A couple of things that would make the program perfect for me:

1.  The ability to save and reopen windows in their last saved sizes and positions, on a per file basis;
2.  In the alternative, a tabbed file interface;
3.  User definable text insertion keys, so that I can add repetitively used text.

I have not found any other Notepad replacement more capable than Win32Pad!  Despite these couple of desirable features, I AM using it until something better comes along - which I doubt will happen in the forseeable future.

Thanks for a GREAT program,
James

Different, but something like this might work for you.

CLCL is clipboard caching utility. (http://www.nakka.com/soft/clcl/index_eng.html)

(Actually that particular program might not be the best for your needs.  There are others out there that hold a specific number of "fixed" text strings.)

Thanks, I'll check it out as a temp fix.

For those who might be looking for a similar solution I'd recommend ArsClip (http://www.joejoesoft.com/vcms/97/). Highly customisable, and allows the user to store custom text strings in groups that load depending on the program (naturally, you can switch to any other group at any time).
